Where the 27U server rack fits

Somewhere between a villa AV system and a full commercial plant room sits a class of project that needs serious capacity without a two metre cabinet. The 27U was built for exactly that. At 1400 mm tall on the standard 600 x 600 mm footprint, it comfortably supports multi zone audio systems, automation processors, network infrastructure and structured cabling systems in larger residential projects and commercial installations.

The cabinet arrives with a UK standard aluminium shell PDU and two cooling fans included, so stable power distribution and effective airflow are in place before the first amplifier is unboxed. And because the rail holes are threaded as standard, there are no cage nuts to fit, drop or lose. That saves labour twice: once during installation, and again every time the rack is serviced over its working life.

Planning a 27U build

Twenty seven units is enough space that discipline pays. Group equipment by function, keep structured cabling terminations where hands can reach them, and hold a few units in reserve. A rack that is planned at eighty percent capacity stays serviceable. A rack packed to the last unit on day one becomes somebody's problem within a year.
